Tell us about yourself.:
Hi. I'm Bobby. I am an award-winning author (which still feels weird to type). As a hybrid author, I write for a number of publishers and have my own small press, BEN Books. I write novels, comic books, short stories, audio dramas, and screenplays. I love telling stories and feel quite lucky to get to do it.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in and around Atlanta, Georgia. I still live in Georgia, though a bit further outside the city these days. As this is the only state I've lived in, it definitely forms the DNA of my writing in some ways. I have set a number of stories in and around the south because I know the place so well.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Is procrastination unusual? I think all writers suffer from that one. I'm pretty normal when it comes to my work. No strange rituals or anything to get the work done. Sitting down and getting started without being distracted is my biggest daily hurtle.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Have fun. First and foremost, enjoy what you do. Then, set attainable goals for yourself. What do you want to get out of writing? Once you answer that, work toward it. If writing is what you want to do as a career, treat it like a job. If it's a hobby, that's cool too. Pick that path that works best for you.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Write what you enjoy. This is so true and I enjoy my job so much more since I started telling stories I wanted to tell instead of what I thought might be popular.
What are you reading now?
I just finished The Pandora Room by Christopher Golden. I'm excited for new Harry Bosch in a couple weeks.
What’s your biggest weakness?
I get distracted easily. Oh, and procrastination.
What is your favorite book of all time?
This is a tough one because it changes all the time. A book that I find myself returning to time and again is Airframe by Michael Crichton.
When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
Usually, I'm asking myself why I'm not writing. 🙂 I enjoy simple things like reading, watching TV & movies, hanging out with friends.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first book I remember reading was in my Mom's Reader's Digest collection called The Snowbound Six by Richard Martin Sterns. I love that story. My second was Han Solo's Revenge, which I also loved.
What has inspired you and your writing style?
I love creating characters and stories. I have to write them down to get them out of my head. Ha! Ha! That love of creating stories keeps me going to this day.
What are you working on now?
I always have multiple projects going at once. At the moment, I an working on a tie-in novel that hasn't been announced yet so I can't say the title, Snow Hunt (Snow book 7), Standing on the Shadows – A Tom Myers Mystery (Myers book 3), and also two serialized novels (a chapter of each posted every week on Patreon): Lance Star: Sky Ranger "Cold Snap!" and Deadly Deals! Plus, there are other projects in planning, production, and editing stages.
What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
I love in person events where I can talk directly to readers. Conventions, book signings, book events, things like that are my preferred method.
What’s next for you as a writer?
The plan is to keep on writing, keep on creating, and keep on promoting.
How well do you work under pressure?
Pretty well. Deadlines motivate me.
How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
When I write for a publisher, I know what they expect in terms of tone and content. With my personal stuff, I do what feels right. I know the audience I'm trying to reach so the tone reflects that.
If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
I would share my love of all the geeky, nerdy things I dig reading, watching, creating. I love that fandom is a community.
