Tell us about yourself.:
I write poetry to help me and others get through the stuff of life! I am a transgender poet and I write about my experience with my transition and living as a trans person.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in Northern California, New York and New Hampshire. The plants that grew in each of these areas have inspired my poetry.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I run to find paper whenever a poem starts bubbling up in my mind. I am a servant to my poems, which have a life of their own.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Allow yourself to free write whatever comes flowing out if your pen, every day to keep the creativity flowing.


What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Meditate for 10 minutes every day.

What’s your biggest weakness?
impulsivity

What is your favorite book of all time?
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker

When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
Hiking in nature, singing in a chorus, snuggling my cats.

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is the first book I remember being read to me as a child. It stirred up some wild imagination in my bones.

What has inspired you and your writing style?
My own heartbreak and intense emotions and revelations have inspired me to write. The myriad of experiences I have had as a trans person inspires me to write.

What are you working on now?
I just finished a collection of poetry called King Crone and The Empty Nest and I am contemplating the focus of my next collection of poetry.

What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
Word of Mouth and Instagram

What’s next for you as a writer?
More poetry performances and another collection of poems.

How well do you work under pressure?
I kind of thrive in chaos so I can do it when needed but I prefer a calm, slower pace.

How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
I don't decide my tone, my poems themselves choose their tone.

If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
Take time to nurture your creativity.
