Tell us about yourself.:
Faye Hall is the author of fast-paced, suspense-filled, sensual, historical romance stories.

She takes her characters on a unique journey of scandal and seduction through the historically rural setting of Queensland, Australia.

Faye was born and raised in the sugarcane farming areas of North Queensland, Australia. She tries to incorporate the tales of local history, and the struggles and adventures of her own family, into each of her stories.

Faye lives in North Queensland with her husband and 5 of their 9 children.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in rural North Queensland, Australia surrounded by sugarcane farms, and stories of the immigrants that had moved there to start a new life before, during, or after the world wars.
It was these stories of hardship and love that fed my imagination and from that I began to write.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I'm not sure it's unusual but I write lots of notes and quotes, even little sections of dialogue. They don't belong to any story as such, but I keep them and look back on them at least once a year until a story forms from them.

What authors have influenced you?
I grew up in rural North Queensland, Australia surrounded by sugarcane farms, and stories of the immigrants that had moved there to start a new life before, during, or after the world wars.
It was these stories of hardship and love that fed my imagination and from that I began to write.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be prepared to fail and get up and keep trying.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
To write the stories you want to read, and a bad first draft is better than a blank page.

What are you reading now?
I'm currently reading several of my own manuscripts and trying to get them ready for publication.

What’s your biggest weakness?
Deep fried potato scallops (it's an Aussie thing)

What is your favorite book of all time?
To kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
My family is everything to me, so whenever I can I like to share a glass of wine with my husband, talk with my kids, or just watch a TV show or movie with them all.

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I've read so many books from as early as I can remember that It's hard to pick which was first – my mum used to buy me Storytime book and cassettes and golden books as a little girl so it would have been one of them. Whichever it was, I remember thinking that I wanted to create stories just like the ones I was reading.

What has inspired you and your writing style?
I take inspiration from so many places, from romance books written by Amanda Quick, to crime novels written by Agatha Christie.

What are you working on now?
I'm actually having a small break from committing to any writing projects whilst my mother is in hospital with terminal kidney failure, but I still try to jot down the odd note here and there. While I've been dealing with family matters, I've been going back over and re-reading some completed manuscripts and trying to do some basic edits.

What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
I'm not overly great with social media, but I like that I can schedule posts on Facebook and X so I tend to use them a lot.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I'm not sure…I've recently released 2 books of poems and ditties I wrote when I was still at school, but I really want to get back to romance. Hopefully, once my family life settles a bit, I should be able to release the first book from my next series 'Blemished' – a collection of stories with heroes/heroines that have been physically scarred and are searching for love.

How well do you work under pressure?
Usually pretty good, but it honestly depends on what else is happening in my life at the time.

How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
I read it out loud to see what it sounds like.

If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
I guess it would be that I was the girl at school that didn't quite fit in, and the girl the English teacher told would never amount to anything. So many of the things in my books are events taken from my own life – I lived with an overbearing father, I escaped domestic violence in a relationship, and I caused scandal when I started my life again with a man I had been friends with for years.
I've shed tears, and it's ok if you do too.
