Tell us about yourself.:
Thank you so much for having me—it's truly an honor to share this space. I'm Ms. Alisha Jackson, a Master leveled social worker, faith-based encourager, and now, a published author. I’ve spent over a decade walking alongside individuals and families through some of life’s hardest seasons—helping them navigate healing, identity, and emotional resilience.

But beyond the credentials and career, I’m simply a woman who knows what it feels like to be overlooked—and who has seen, firsthand, how God can turn quiet seasons into preparation for something greater. I write and speak to remind people they are not invisible, not forgotten, and certainly not disqualified from purpose.

My heart beats for those who are silently struggling—people doing their best in the background, wondering if they’ll ever be seen or chosen. Through my work, whether in the field or on the written page, I strive to create safe, grace-filled spaces where people can be honest, grow spiritually, and rediscover hope.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in different group homes and later in foster care, and that experience has shaped so much of who I am—personally, professionally, and spiritually. Living through that kind of instability at a young age taught me the importance of finding safe ways to process pain and uncertainty. For me, that began with learning how to express myself in a healthy, creative way.

Writing became my outlet before I even knew it was a gift. It was how I made sense of my world, how I found my voice, and eventually, how I began to help others find theirs. Those early experiences also gave me a deep empathy for people who feel unseen or misunderstood. It’s why I’m so passionate about creating spaces for healing—whether through outreach, ministry, life coaching, or books. I believe that when we share our stories, we unlock healing not just for ourselves, but for others who are silently carrying similar burdens.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My writing habits are deeply connected to reflection and quiet moments—times when I can really hear what God is speaking to my heart. I don’t always write at the same time every day, but I do create intentional space for it. Sometimes it’s early in the morning before the world wakes up, and other times it's late at night when everything is still. I keep a journal nearby almost all the time because inspiration often comes in whispers—during prayer, in conversations, or while I'm helping someone through a tough situation.

Because of my background, I’ve learned not to rush the process. I let the words come as they need to. Sometimes it pours out, and other times I sit quietly, allowing healing and clarity to rise to the surface before I put anything down. My writing is both personal and purposeful—I want every sentence to serve someone, to speak to their situation, and remind them that they’re not alone.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice to new authors is this: Allow God to lead the way, and trust His timing. Writing a book—especially one that carries purpose and healing—is not just about putting words on a page; it’s about being a vessel. There will be moments when the process feels slow or uncertain, but don’t lose hope. Keep building, keep writing, and keep showing up—even when no one sees it yet.

Your gift is not just for you. God will use what you create to reach the hearts that need it most, in His perfect time. So trust that every step, every delay, every revision, and even every moment of doubt is part of something bigger. Surrender the outcome and believe that God will align your work with the right people—those who are waiting for exactly what He placed in you to give. Just stay faithful, stay rooted, and let God do the rest.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
The best advice I’ve ever been given is simple, but it’s stayed with me through every season: Be patient with the process. It’s something I’ve had to live, not just learn. Coming from a background where life moved unpredictably and control often felt out of reach, I used to feel like I had to fight for every next step. But over time, I’ve realized that growth, healing, and even purpose take time—and rushing them can actually delay what God is trying to build in you.

That advice helped me stop striving and start trusting. It taught me that even when things feel slow or hidden, something meaningful is still happening beneath the surface. Now, I pass that same encouragement on to others: you don’t have to force what’s meant for you. Trust the timing, trust the stretching, and trust that what’s being developed in private will one day overflow in public.

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading the Bible—and honestly, it’s something I’m always rereading. No matter how many times I return to it, I continue to find new layers of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that apply directly to where I am in life. It’s not just a book to me—it’s a living guide, a source of strength, and the ultimate blueprint.

What I love most is how God speaks so personally through it. It’s like He tailors each word to exactly what I need in that season—whether I’m seeking clarity, peace, encouragement, or direction. For me, there’s no better source of truth, and I’ve learned to lean into it not just for inspiration as a writer, but for alignment as a woman, leader, and servant.

What’s your biggest weakness?
One of my biggest weaknesses has been trying to carry too much on my own—feeling like I have to be strong for everyone, all the time. Because of my background, I grew up learning how to survive and push through, often without asking for help. While that made me resilient, it also made it hard for me to pause, rest, or lean on others when I really needed support.

Over time, God has been teaching me that strength isn't just in what I can do—but in knowing when to surrender. I’ve learned that weakness isn't failure; it’s a space where God can show His strength. So now, instead of hiding that weakness, I try to see it as an invitation for grace, connection, and growth—not just for me, but for the people I serve.

What is your favorite book of all time?
My favorite book is the Bible. It’s the one book I return to over and over again, and each time, I discover something new. It’s not just full of wisdom—it is wisdom. It’s where I find comfort when I’m weary, direction when I’m unsure, and truth when everything else feels uncertain.

The Bible has shaped my healing, my purpose, and even my calling as a writer. It speaks to every season of life, and what amazes me is how personal it is—like God is having a one-on-one conversation with me through each page. It’s the foundation of everything I do and the source of the overflow I pray to pour into others.

When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
When I’m not writing, I truly enjoy spending quality time with my daughter and grandchildren. They bring so much joy, laughter, and grounding to my life. Family time reminds me of what matters most and often inspires the heart behind my writing. I’m also deeply involved in ministry, which allows me to pour into others through encouragement, service, and faith-filled connection.

Another passion of mine is singing—it’s a beautiful outlet for worship and reflection. And honestly, I also value moments of rest. Whether it’s sitting quietly, listening to music, or just taking a deep breath after a long day, I believe in the importance of relaxing and recharging. It all helps me stay centered, creative, and spiritually full.

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, I absolutely do. One of the first stories I remember reading was Charlotte’s Web. It left a lasting impression on me, not just because of the story itself, but because of the deeper message it carried. It reminded me that real friendship can come in unexpected forms—that someone doesn’t have to look like you or come from the same background to love you, protect you, or teach you something meaningful.

Looking back, I see how God used that simple story to plant a deeper truth in me: that He can bring people into your life—often when you least expect it—who play powerful roles in your growth and healing. Charlotte’s Web was more than just a children’s book; it was one of the first times I saw how connection, sacrifice, and quiet love could change someone’s life. That story stayed with me, and in many ways, still speaks to the kind of compassion and purpose I aim to write with today.

What has inspired you and your writing style?
My inspiration comes from a mix of life experience, faith, and a deep desire to bring healing to others. Growing up in group homes and later foster care, I learned early on how powerful words can be—both the ones spoken to us and the ones we speak over ourselves. Writing became my safe place, my way of processing pain and finding purpose. Over time, that turned into a calling to help others do the same.

My writing style is honest, heartfelt, and rooted in compassion. I don’t write to impress—I write to connect. I want readers to feel seen, understood, and uplifted. I’m inspired by real-life stories, quiet strength, and the way God works behind the scenes in people’s lives. Whether I’m writing a book, journaling, or encouraging someone one-on-one, my goal is always the same: to speak life, offer hope, and remind people that their story still matters.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m excited to be expanding my creative work in a few new directions. I’m currently working on releasing more eBooks and paperback editions to continue offering encouragement and healing through accessible formats. I'm also developing coloring books for both adults and children—because sometimes healing and reflection happen best through creativity and calm moments.

One of the projects closest to my heart is my very first children’s books. These stories are being written especially for children who have faced challenges—those who need to know they are strong, valuable, and deeply loved. My hope is to inspire them with messages of resilience, faith, and self-worth, and to create something I wish I had growing up. I believe when we reach children early with love and encouragement, we help shape their future in powerful ways.

What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
Right now, my favorite method for promoting my book is word of mouth. I truly believe that when people connect with a message, they share it with others, and there’s nothing more powerful than genuine, personal recommendations. It’s been amazing to see how readers who are touched by my work spread the word to their friends and family.

That said, I’m always open to learning new methods as I continue to grow as an author. I believe in the power of community, both online and offline, and I’m eager to explore new ways to connect with people who might benefit from my message. Whether it’s through social media, book clubs, or collaborations, I’m excited to continue expanding my reach and finding fresh ways to serve others through my writing.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, I'm always looking toward the next step in expanding my impact. Right now, one exciting possibility on the horizon is exploring the world of film. I believe that stories have the power to move people in unique ways, and I want to reach a broader, global audience by bringing my messages of hope, resilience, and faith to the screen. Whether it’s through short films, documentaries, or full-length features, I’m excited about the potential to share these life-changing lessons in a new and powerful format.

Ultimately, my goal is to continue reaching hearts, encouraging transformation, and creating content that speaks to people in ways they can truly relate to—no matter where they are or where they come from. I’m open to where God leads me, and I’m excited to see how my writing journey unfolds next!

How well do you work under pressure?
I would say I work fairly well under pressure, but it’s something I’ve had to learn over time. Growing up in difficult circumstances, I had to develop resilience and the ability to stay focused when things felt overwhelming. I’ve learned to keep a clear mind and prioritize what truly matters, even when there’s a lot on my plate.

That said, I also believe in the importance of balance. While pressure can push me to perform, I’ve learned that it’s important to pace myself, take breaks when needed, and rely on my faith to guide me through tough moments. The key for me is staying grounded and remembering that God’s timing and guidance will always give me the strength I need to press on.

How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
Honestly, I just write and go with the flow. I allow the tone to evolve naturally as I’m writing. Sometimes, it’s uplifting and encouraging, other times it might be more reflective or even raw, depending on the message or the season I’m in. I trust that as I pour my heart onto the page, the right tone will emerge based on the emotions or lessons I want to convey.

I don’t overthink it too much; instead, I let the flow of words guide me. Once I’ve written, I can always refine it to make sure it fits the purpose of the piece. But for me, the beauty is in the spontaneity and trust that the right words will come as I go along.

If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
If I could share one thing with my fans, it would be this: Get back up, every time you fall down or fall short on something. Life is full of setbacks, challenges, and moments when we feel like we’re not enough. But the key is not in avoiding those moments—it’s in rising again after them. Each time you fall, remember that God’s grace is there to lift you. Keep pushing forward, keep trusting the process, and never let a setback define your journey. You are stronger than you know, and every step, no matter how small, is leading you to something greater.
