Tell us about yourself and your books.:
I've done a number of these interviews; so, this is more of an update as I have decided to publish the first four books of my Birds in Peril Series under one cover, Birds in Peril Boxed Set. Those who have read my previous interviews know that I am a country girl, having lived within five miles of the Missouri River all of my life. I have also been writing most of my life and have published eight books. I am also co-owner/operator of our family farm with my husband.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I'm just a night owl. The need to write is as necessary to me as breathing. Writing is how I express myself, my views on life, organize my thoughts, keep myself in order–even if that's only a to-do or a grocery list. I've kept a journal for years.
What authors have influenced you?
Many. More than I can name. I tend to read more romance than anything and I have a few favorites, like Sandra Brown. But my reading habits are eclectic; so I enjoy science fiction, nonfiction, and historical as well. I am a fan of Newt Grinchrich and John Bowers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
No one is going to be able to take that story, poem, etc, from your head and put it to paper but yourself. So just do it. Sit yourself down and write, whether that be in longhand or on some device. It doesn't matter. The first draft is always the most difficult. After that, everything is improving something you have already written.
