Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm a new author who had a quarter-life crisis and dropped everything to go soul-searching and found my answer at my fingertips and between the pages.
I published my first book on October 24, 2018, and I'm working on my second right now.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I related to the female protagonist, Maria, as she realized she wasn't enjoying her work and wanted to go in a completely different direction. Other than that, I wanted to portray a romantic, passionate relationship that develops over time, so Benji and Maria told me their story and I wrote it down. 🙂
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Does sitting in front of my laptop for 16 hours a day count?
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I grew up reading Harry Potter, and it was a big inspiration for me to read more and even try my hand at writing (fanfiction!!!). Every book I've come across has influenced me in some way. There's always something new to learn from every author and their distinct writing voices.
What are you working on now?
I'm working on the second book of my series, Troublesome Affections. All the books occur in the same universe but read as standalones. This one will take place in Chicago, with one who refuses to be tied down and the other who longs to fly away. It's still in the works!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I'm still trying to figure that out too!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write, write. Discipline is the most important thing. Sometimes writing doesn't result in a product. It's the workout.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Even at my 20th book, I sometimes feel like I don't know what I'm doing. But the difference between my first and 20th book is 19 books of experience.
What are you reading now?
I'm juggling a few ARC books. I'll be starting Good Omens by Neil Gaiman soon.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More writing and figuring out how this whole thing works. I'm looking to exercise my discipline and develop my writing voice.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Messenger by Markus Zusak.
