Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm a twenty-something girl living somewhere on planet Earth. Books are my favorite thing in the world. My vices include eating mountains of chocolate and binge watching TV shows.
I'm a nocturnal creature of the worst kind–reading (and writing) is just so much better at night!
I've only written one full-length novel so far. Hopefully there will be more in the future.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called My Life As I Knew It by Peri June (available on all Amazon marketplaces). It's a Young Adult Contemporary. It also has romance in it. I would also put it under the "realistic fiction" category.
The idea for this book popped into my head one night when I couldn't sleep. I started outlining it the very next day. Writing this book was some of the most fun I've had in my life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't know if I would call it unusual, but–as mentioned above–I can concentrate better at night. I tried to write during the day, but failed miserably. As long as the sun is up I just can't seem to focus.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was first introduced to Young Adult books through the Twilight books–like a lot of people. After that I started reading a lot of Young Adult.
One of the first Adult books I read was by Susan Elizabeth Phillips–I've never laughed so much while reading!
I've been reading everything she writes ever since. Her books are great in general, but they're even better when you just want to escape a bad mood. The situations she puts her characters through are hilarious.
What are you working on now?
I'm currently working on a New Adult College Romance with a little dark edge.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I've only recently discovered free promotion websites like this one. They really seem to help get the word out about new books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
As a new author myself, I have found that writing your book is the easy part. Getting people to notice your book among the thousands and thousands of other books is what's difficult, not to mention, daunting.
So my advice is to get the word out about your book whenever and wherever you can. Websites like this one are incredibly helpful to up-and-coming authors.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Nora Roberts once said that you can fix a bad page, but you can't fix a blank one. I always keep that in mind whenever I'm having a bad writing day.
What are you reading now?
I've just finished a book called Kill The Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky.
I loved it! It was zany, funny and a little twisted. I couldn't stop reading until I finished the entire book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully, I'll keep on writing more books.
What is your favorite book of all time?
That's a really difficult question for me to answer. I just love so many books! I can't possibly choose just one. It also varies with me. What was my favorite book, say, five years ago, could sometimes be only mildly interesting now. I found that as I grow and go through different situations in life, my reading preference changes with me.
I hope that I was able to explain this properly.
