Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a down-to-earth, friendly, kind-hearted Christian man who enjoys life. My interests include writing, reading, singing, traveling, keeping fit, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and encouraging others. I possess an adventurous spirit; the art of discovering is exciting to me. I am a dreamer who likes tropical getaways: the warmth of the sun, palm trees, seagulls, beaches, and the ocean breeze. To date, I have written one book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is U Turn, God Turns and God inspired it. It was birthed during a two-year season of unemployment when I was unaware that a book existed inside of me. I moved by faith from Texas to Maryland and could have written a book on the Maryland experiences alone; however, God instructed me to reach back and write about my entire journey.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I cannot say that I possess any unusual writing habits. What I can say is that I do not write everyday as many suggest. My mind gets filled with thoughts and ideas at different times, from different experiences and when it’s time for me to write, I am able to recall every nuance of my senses, thoughts, feelings, places, and things, from those experiences and everything comes out very smoothly!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Bible / The Tongue & End Time Events – Charles Capps / Transform Your Thinking – Dr. Bill Winston / World War Me – Dr. Jamal Bryant / William Shakespeare / Dr. Mike Murdock
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on seven books simultaneously so stay tuned for great things to come!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Believe me, I’ve tried many different methods to promote my book. It’s been quite a journey to find what really works best for me. On my promotion journey, I discovered Mike Balmaceda and his team, who really operate in excellence, integrity, education for their clients, and great customer service. They are also very results driven. This team helped work my first book, U Turn, God Turns, to Amazon Kindle Best-Seller status! It reached #1 in the Spiritual Growth category; Top 5 in Miracles; Top 10 in both Men’s Inspirational and Men’s Personal Growth; Top 30 in both Memoirs and Motivational! Excited about this victory and excited about being an Amazon Best-Selling Author with my very first book!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes! My advice to authors is to be persistent, consistent, and patient in achieving your goals. You want the best for your books and want them to be successful overnight; however, prepare yourself if this does not occur. Remember that delay does not equate to denial. Be wise, educate and expose yourself to good information pertaining to “everything book related”. Listening to webinars is free. You can get access to great information. You only need to invest in the ones that are right for you and that you will actually work. Although the information can be overwhelming at times, stay focused with a budget plan and one or two promotion avenues. This will help you to continue to maintain your regular expenses, keep your sanity, and measure results. Beware of predators; they are everywhere! If you should experience dealing with a predator (I did), just know that trials come to make you stronger. Be professional, stand your ground, don’t be afraid to ask questions, make a checklist of what is promised, document everything, and allow the allotted time for the promises to be fulfilled. If the person or company fails to deliver, use your writing skills to reach out to the top person and ask for what you want. I followed the same advice I’m presenting to you and was able to get a full refund because a company failed to deliver more than half of what they promised!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard is to keep the faith in God and whatever you get into your mind, no one can take it away from you.
What are you reading now?
Now, I am reading The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love by Devon Franklin and Meagan Good. So far, it’s a great read. Very honest, straightforward, inspiring and full of value!
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next for me is continuing to increase exposure for my current book with plans to have the audiobook version available in the 4th quarter of 2017. I would absolutely love for my book to be transformed into a movie. So many can benefit from this journey. I will continue to develop the seven books I mentioned earlier. My focus will also be on proofreading and editing for other authors. I am gifted in this area. This comes quite naturally to me thanks to an exceptional English teacher I encountered on my journey. I successfully wrote, arranged, and edited my own book! I have done this type of work for a few people and I’m looking to expand my horizons. I see published e-books all the time with errors so I know there is a market for both published and unpublished works that need to be polished to error-free. I just want to help people present the best product possible because we never know whose eyes will read our books. It could be someone or a company who could help change the direction of our lives forever!
What is your favorite book of all time?
My favorite book of all time is The Bible! I love this book because it is God’s Holy Word delivered through writers that He inspired! This book is life. It is Good News. It makes you feel. Everything about life can be found in these scriptures. It’s as relevant now as it was when it was first written; a timeless, life-changing, divine, masterpiece!
