Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Born in South Africa, educated in England. Lived in Sweden for 38years. My first book was my doctoral thesis "Reflections and Elaborations upon Kantian Aesthetics". I have written two books and am currently writing two more. An introduction to Philosophy and volume 2 of a trilogy entitled "The World Explored, the World Suffered"
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
"The World Explored, the World Suffered:The Exeter lectures." Volume one of a trilogy. The work was inspired by the young people around me who are curious about the subject of Philosophy and wish to have a non academic introduction to the most important ideas in our past.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Larence Durrell's works have all influenced me but perhaps his Alexandrian Quartet is the work I have read and re-read the most over the past 10 years. Shakespeare, Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Laurens van der Post, V S Naipaul. The poems of T S Eliot, W B Yeats, Robert Frost Dylan Thomas have also influenced me

Two works. A textbook for Colleges and Universities: "The World Explored, the World Suffered: An Introduction to Philosophy. The second volume of the trilogy: "The World Explored, the World Suffered: The Birmingham lectures"
