Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm an idealistic romantic who lives in the wonderful world of fiction…most of the time. I'm an avid reader of historical and paranormal romance, and I love to write. Besides reading and writing, I enjoy music—especially rock concerts and live musical theatre. I've written several books and published one novella (currently unavailable) and one novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest release is A Vampire's Tale. The theme of "following your dreams" primarily provided the inspiration behind this novel… My heroine leaves a job that makes her miserable for the uncertain career of paranormal romance author.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't think so. Although…I'm in the middle of two books, writing their chapters out of sequence.
For the first work-in-progress, I've divided the book into two parts which I plan to write in entirety and then combine, alternating chapters from each part.
I've divided the content of the second work to create historical stories about my hero's family members (parents, grandparents, etc) with the novel concluding in the present.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My greatest love (other than my husband and children) is reading… I have been inspired by many authors, including Karen Marie Moning and Diana Gabaldon.
What are you working on now?
My current project is a sequel to A Vampire's Tale, focusing on a wizard, from that story, and his family.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best method is continuous engagement… I keep current on a number of social media sites and work to create or re-post new and relevant content on a regular basis.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Write. Write.
A bad first draft is better than the draft not written.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Show not tell. I constantly keep this sage advice in mind when writing / editing.
What are you reading now?
I just finished reading Highland Hearts by Hannah Howell today, and I haven't started the next one yet.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I've recently written two TapTales chat stories for the app Chapters: Interactive Stories. I'm new to the world of chat stories, but I find them interesting to read and challenging to write. This platform provides increased access to the millennial demographic.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Princess Bride. I also love the movie. 🙂
