Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello, I am M.L.Ruscsak. I'm a mother of one darling daughter who is also my editor. Please don't hold that against her while reading my books. Most of what she corrects I go back and change. It makes sense once you read the letters in front of my books. And i change less as the books progress.
Besides that… I'm a wife to a disabled veteran. Then on top of that I'm disabled myself. So I don't go out much.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is "Secrets, Lies and Betrayal" this is the third installment to the "Lite and Darke" series. Unlike the other two instead of following one or two of the characters. This one is four short stories all clearly connected to each other and the other two books. It is meant to fill in some of the gaps between the first and second book but also lead you into the final chapter. Or at least into the finial book that I have planned. That does not mean that I'm ending the series only that I don't have another book planned right now.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write my stories backwards. What I mean is I write the last chapter first then lead up to the end.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I tend to read anything from dark fiction created by Anne Bishop to Y.A by the likes of Jessica Day George and Shannon Hale. Just to name a few. I can't say for sure that they influenced my by they have opened my mind to a realm of possibilities.
What are you working on now?
Right now I'm in the middle of the first book to another series. The Book is titled "A Mother's Sin" this is a murder mystery that also touches base on some some serious other topics. It is meant for the Y.A world but can easily cross over to capture the adult mind as well. I'm hoping to debut this series in April of 2019. it's a long ways away I know but the timing makes sense for the story as a whole.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I find doing interviews such as this one very important. As is joining facebook groups that allow you to promote your work.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up.If you want your work published then there is a way. It's just up to you to find it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Stay true to your story. Don't change key elements to make some else happy. If something is meant to be there then do not change it. it does not matter if it's a purple elephant or an intentional miss spelled word. it's your story to do with as you see fit.
What are you reading now?
I'm in the middle of one my favorite books that belongs to "The Black Jewels" series. As I'm re-reading the entire series again.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep writing. Keep publishing my work. And keeping my fingers crossed that one day someone will make the books into movies.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Black Jewels are my go to books when I need for my mind to wonder.
