Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an Associate Professor of English at Harding University, teaching classes in medieval literature and the literature of C.S. Lewis. So far I have written three books.
Sweet River Fool is a novel about a lonely and homeless alcoholic named Snody who despairs of life until a seemingly chance encounter with a children's book about Saint Francis of Assisi leads him to the joys of Christ and the redemption of his soul.
The Glory of Kings is a work of apologetic fiction which invites its reader to go on an intellectual and spiritual quest that ranges from Cumberland Island on the Georgia coast to Munsalvaesche, the mystical Grail Castle of Arthurian legend. A diverse array of characters from history and literature emerges throughout the story to confront or guide those who undertake this quest. William Blake, Johann Faust, Julian of Norwich, and many others all contribute to the philosophical dialogue of a perilous adventure that seeks to penetrate to the heart of Christianity and behold the face of God.
Enoch Walked with God is a children's picture book that I also illustrated. I don’t remember exactly how old I was when I first heard of Enoch, but I do remember being fascinated by him even at that earliest introduction. It is the brief but potent statement, “Enoch walked with God,” which has always captured my imagination. Enoch must have had a beautiful soul and walked with God in many ways. Enoch Walked with God invites children to imagine what some of those ways might have been while presenting them with a wonderful model for their own lives.
