Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m originally from Europe. I grew up in Northern Italy and in my early teens, I moved to Germany. I moved to the US in my late twenties and it has been the greatest decision and change in my life. I enrolled at The Art Institute of California-San Diego where I studied animation. For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to work for the greatest studios in Hollywood, but as time progressed and the more I studied characters and story development, I fell in love with the writing process. Later I enrolled at National University and graduated with a Master in Creative Writing.
WoodWings is my first tween book. I have written other books (Young Adult), but this is the first book that I have decided to publish and throw myself into the mix with many other authors.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is WoodWings and this story has been with me since childhood. The story has been inspired by many great books I’ve read during my life such as Savvy by Indrid Law, Mo and Dale Mystery by Sheila Turnage, and Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. Anime and Comics like Naruto, Dragon Ball, and the X-Men have influenced the progression of my story. And yes, even reality TV shows like Haunted Collector, Ghost Adventure and The Dead Files.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, not really. I just sit in front of the TV with my faithful and very adorable cat sitting in a chair next to me. On the other side, I have this big window facing the woods of North Eastern Pennsylvania. Once in a while, I lift my head away from the laptop and pet my cat’s belly, or give him a lot of kisses (he’s so adorable), or look out the window and admire the nature. Early mornings, I witness deer or turkeys cross through my back yard.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King and Edgar Ellen Poe. I love Stephen King’s story and the depth of his character development. I love Edgar Allan Poe’s darkness and breathtaking stories.
What are you working on now?
On the sequel of WoodWings.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use the Website a lot and promoting a book can be very expensive. One site I use daily is the Fivver.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
To not give up. Keep reading all kinds of books and genres (the good and the bad) and write something every day.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To find ten minutes a day to write. It can be anything, even a funny story about grocery shopping. I was told that the brain is a muscle that needs to be kept sharp, and just like artists who need to draw or sketch every day for an hour to keep their hand and talent trained, so do writers.
What are you reading now?
The Misadventures of Edgar & Allan Poe by Gordon McAlpine.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Promoting my book, WoodWings – Chapter One.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Holes by Louis Sachar. I love the plot and the twist and turns in the story, including the ending, in which Louis Sachar combined all these different characters and stories into one single plot.
