Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
To date, I have published five books. Four are part of the full set in my new adult paranormal romance series. The fifth is a novella on the origins of vampires
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest released book is Fallen angel, a novella on the origin of vampires and what Lucifer's part was in their existence. The book, as well as its subtitle (Dawn of Reckoning) was inspired by the Blood Bound Series as an event in distant time that shaped the vampire race as we know it today as well as the main threat they are now facing. It is only short, but I have plans for a full-length follow on (now that I too am addicted to these new characters!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am very methodical in my writing. I have a plan of attack and from start of the first draft to the finished and published book, I work through those steps to get me there. I do like quite when I am writing, but with a 3-yo, that doesn't often happen 🙂
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read a lot. Mostly paranormal romance and a thriller now and then. I love anything with creatures that are out of this world. Give me vampires, werewolves, witches, angels…the list goes on. As for authors who've influenced me, I would definitely say J.R. Ward. The way she delivers a character and drives them through their story is magic.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I am working on a psychological thriller that I've had plotted out for four years. Because it is so different to the series I've just finished, I've had to wait to make sure I could really transform my writing to match the story and the characters. After this book is published in the next few months, I am back into paranormal. I have a whopping 9 (maybe even 10) books plotted out and begging for me to write them. There will be a set that will continue on from the Blood Bound Series but from new character POVs, and then there will be a few more origin stories, and of course a follow up on Fallen Angel.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Promoting is hard work…I'm really not a 'seller'. I'd love people to just find my books and love them, but it doesn't quite work that way. You can write an amazing story, but getting an audience is the hard part. I find that the more effort I put into interviews like these, and posting my books on blogs and websites really helps to find new and eager readers that will love what I write.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep at it and you will succeed. Writing is only half the journey, finding your audience is at least half the battle. Make sure you spend time creating your stories but don't forget to put yourself out there and interact with your current and potential readers. If you don't go looking, they might not find you!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you never give up, you never fail.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading Shadowed Instincts by Wendi Wilson. This is the second book in her Shadowed Series, a sweet young adult romance filled with paranormal mystery and suspense.
What’s next for you as a writer?
The decision on whether to start on the future Blood Bound series, the Blood Bound Origins, or the follow-on from Fallen Angel. Either way, there will be danger, mystery, suspense, and, most of all, heat-stopping love.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Love Awakened by J.R. Ward hands down!
