Move on over Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler there is a new hard-boiled noir detective novelist in town, Steven Walker, introducing the toughest private eye since Sam Spade, Gunny Mac. It’s 1942 and Roosevelt thinks that Guadalcanal is about to fall to the Japanese. Based on a true story, Roosevelt orders all the money in Hawaii collected and destroyed and replaced with funny money with the word Hawaii written across the back of each bill. Anyone, who is someone, wants some of that money before it is burned. Only one man stands in the way. Gunnery Sergeant Mac, a bayoneted, shot-up hero of Bloody Ridge who has been forced to become the one thing he hates the most, a civilian. He buys a three dollar book and becomes a private eye in Chinatown, Hawaii. But sometimes you have to throw the book away. His fellow wounded Marines, and Mac battle Gentleman Jack and the evil Captain Chin. One last battle for their Country, their Corps, and their friends. One last battle, one last victory!

I served during two decades as an Infantry Officer and later a high school teacher. I have traveled all over the world compliments of Uncle Sam and lived longer in the jungle than a holler monkey. I love history and noir hard-boiled detective novels. Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler are my favorites. I write about the 1940s and 1950s because the greatest generation made their mark on our country during this time, including my father who fought with the Fourth Marine Division during WWll. I love to hike, travel, work with my wife in out gardens, mow my five acres of heaven and play with my two Border Collies…Miss Molly and Beauregard Pierre Townsend Walker. People say I act like Mickey Spillane. I don’t like whiners and expect people to put one foot in front of the other until they complete what they started to do
