My grandmother was once the family storyteller. She’d tell the same old stories each and every time and yet, somehow, she still kept everyone’s attention. Me, on the other hand? I’m lucky to get a word in edgewise. That’s why I decided to write. And here is my story. It spans my family’s immigration from the Azores (Portugal), my experience as a first generation American in Fall River (Massachusetts), and the weight of separation. I hope it is as much of a journey for you as it was for me.
