Tell us about yourself and your books.:
As a young child, I was taken from my home and placed in foster care. The experience was terrifying and abusive, and the only safe place I could find was in my mind. It was there that I crafted a beautiful, magical universe. Into adulthood I had enough material that I decided to put that universe on paper. This is how the DRUX series was born.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My best mental writing is done during my daily trampoline bouncing. Rain or snow, I am out there, despite the looks I get from the neighbors.
What authors have influenced you?
Anything by Tolkien or C.S. Lewis. Their robust imaginations have encouraged me to tell my tales, and with as much rich story as possible.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing is all about finding your voice, so forget what everyone else is saying, or doing, and just be you!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
"Read everything you can on how to be a good author, then ignore it all!"
What are you reading now?
I'm making my way through The Stand. A book that terrified me as a twelve-year-old. I'm curious how it will impact me now. Nothing wrong with scaring yourself once in a while!
What’s your biggest weakness?
I don't stop to sleep or eat or leave the house. Some call it a sickness. I call it a passion.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Lord of the Rings, which was originally one books, so it counts.
What has inspired you and your writing style?
Mostly my experiences, and my desire to tell a big, powerful, and fast story.
What are you working on now?
I've putting the final touches on the fifth book in the six book DRUX series.
What is your method for promoting your work?
So far, social media, and promotion sites.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I will finish the DRUX series by Spring, then begin the follow up series, the NEXUS series in the fall.
How well do you work under pressure?
No one can put pressure on me the way I can. Pressure or not, I still love to write.
How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
It depends on the bigger story, the mood, the direction.
