Tell us about yourself.:
Born young, I was transported to the great southern penal colony of Australia at an early age. I developed a love of the ocean and all things watery there. This led to a more universal desire to defend and protect nature and the planet.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
Growing up in Australia and being blessed with a father who was something of a wanderer and adventurer perhaps set the tone for my writing.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do a lot of 'old school' pen and paper writing. I have to use one special pen exclusively – my current pen is carved from hazel; a wood used in Celtic tradition for wands and divining rods.
What authors have influenced you?
Growing up in Australia and being blessed with a father who was something of a wanderer and adventurer perhaps set the tone for my writing.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write often and write widely.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Don't eat yellow snow.
What are you reading now?
"Suddenly One Sunday" by Mike Bingham.
What’s your biggest weakness?
Being on the Asperger's spectrum, I often tend to devote too much time to writing projects to make the final product 'perfect'
What is your favorite book of all time?
"Reach For The Sky" by Paul Brickhill.
When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
Being fond of nature and the outdoors, I enjoy hiking and bushwalking.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I recall being enthralled with 'The Wind In The Willows' by Kenneth Grahame, and also A A Milne's 'Winnie The Pooh'
I've always held the ability to see the simplicity of things in high regard, and perhaps that hails back to my childhood fondness for Pooh Bear.
What has inspired you and your writing style?
I can't point to any one source of inspiration. I think the trick has been to simply channel what one feels within and express it with a palette of words.
What are you working on now?
Multiple projects (fairly typically); including TV screenplays and a report on Australian offshore immigration detention.
What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
On-line services such as mybookplace.net
What’s next for you as a writer?
Another coffee. And maybe some chocolate biscuits.
How well do you work under pressure?
I thrive under pressure.
How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
It depends upon some key factors including subject matter and audience.
If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
Herpes. Nah, just kidding. But humour and laughter is something we cannot have enough of.
