Tell us about yourself.:
I am a romance book author and ghostwriter of more than twenty years, who enjoys writing sweet romance books series.
These novels are mostly set in a little Kentish village, featuring tight-knit communities, a determined earl with a scandalous reputation and a spirited heroine who not only brings the hero to heel but must stand up for herself to seize the happy-ever-after she deserves.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in a small, tight-knit village in England and lived for a few years on a farm. As there wasn't a lot of entertainment if it rained, I read copious amounts of books including Jane Austen.
However, the fact I write modern regency romance novels where the sparks fly between a brooding hero and a flawed but feisty heroine is purely coincidental…
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Before I write, I water my flowers, catch fish and buy seasonal outfits for animated creatures in Animal Crossing. But that's not unusual, is it?
What authors have influenced you?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t beat yourself up if another author's technique doesn't work. Just keep trying new things till something clicks.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Try to take as much advice as possible from authors you wish to emulate, then create your own writers’ toolkit with what works for you.
What are you reading now?
The Count of Monte Cristo, because I normally ban myself from reading romantic fiction when I’m writing a romance book.
What’s your biggest weakness?
Letting a finished book go.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, because I have yet to read a regency romance that surpasses this yet.
When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
Watching random blockbuster movies, and growing the perfect Maris Pipers.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
One of my first books was a book of bedtime nursery rhymes.
However, it kept me up all night worrying about Wee Willy Winkie and just why he kept running all through town, upstairs and downstairs in his night gown.
What has inspired you and your writing style?
Probably just about everything I've read, from Mills & Boon, Arthur C. Clarke to Lord of the Rings. Now there lies the seeds of a mash-up romance book that never needs to be written…
What are you working on now?
I have started to write A Summer Romance with the Earl, the latest in the An Earl for all Seasons series, which will feature beleaguered copywriter Jess Smith as she juggles her career with village commitments while being wooed by the notorious Lord Burness.
I’m hoping the book will be a great read for those who like a sweet romance novel that’s not only fun and emotional, but opens the door to a whole series of heartwarming romance books for readers to sink their teeth into.
What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
Truly, the best method I’ve found for promoting my books is through sites like mybookplace.net.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Finishing the next book in the An Earl for all Seasons series, so that readers can find out whether Jess and Lord Burness get their happily ever after.
How well do you work under pressure?
I know a lot of people who've worked in hospitals. Nothing I have ever done could remotely be described as working under pressure and this includes wrangling wayward politicians.
How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
The characters decide the tone of my writing, I have no say in the matter. At all.
If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
A packet of chocolate caramel Hobnobs and a nice cup of tea.
