Tell us about yourself.:
I write clean historical and contemporary romance. After my years of experience in education, I also write picture books and middle grade novels.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in Houston, Texas. Being close to Galveston Bay, I was intrigued with the history of early settlers and pirates. We lived close enough to New Orleans to experience the unique culture there and develop an interest in historical romance..
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I find writing at a desk too confining. I write in my large armchair.
What authors have influenced you?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don't try and write an epic novel. Write many smaller projects first and get the experience you need to plan longer works.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Don't try to do everything, advertise on every platform, write for every site, etc. Chose one or two things you can do well and stick to those.
What are you reading now?
I am reading Regency romance. I love the time period and am in the mood for this genre.
What’s your biggest weakness?
Chocolate.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Dean Koontz book, Watchers.
When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
I like to spend time with my family, carting my grandkids to activities, reading and watching movies.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember reading Beautiful Joe about the sweet little cocker spaniel who was abused and then found a loving home and was well-loved. It touched me deeply due to my love of animals.
What has inspired you and your writing style?
I have been inspired by characters in books such as those written by Janette Oke, real life people with real problems and growth.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a contemporary romance about a young woman with social issues and the attractive who donates his time to help her.
What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
I enjoy social sharing such as book promotions and giveaways with other authors.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to begin a historical novel set in France.
How well do you work under pressure?
I work reasonably well under pressure and have never missed a deadline.
How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
It depends upon the characters. They set the tone depending upon the depth of the problems they face.
