Tell us about yourself.:
Ethan Ruedlinger is a US Army veteran, Shito-Ryu Kyokushin Karate black belt, and entrepreneur who possesses a deep fascination with all things history. Since his parents took him across the country visiting historical sites and museums during his childhood, he has a profound love for America and American history.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in a small house in the middle of the forest of Southern Indiana. The beauty of the trees, the blue skies and sunshine, it was all incredible inspiration for my early poetry, and even some of my later works.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Perhaps my most unusual writing habit is the fact that I won’t always write in chronological order while adding to my autobiography. If I remember an important detail that I failed to add, I’ll have to retrace my steps back to where the paragraph should be inserted, and thus I’ll have to reformat each page.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
NEVER give up, continue writing DESPITE failures! It’s those failures that will mold you, and shape you into the writer you strive to be!
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Always proofread your work yourself! Never rely solely on your editor’s input.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading “The Mueller Report.”
What’s your biggest weakness?
My biggest weakness is procrastination. Even if I have ideas swimming in my head, I will occasionally put off getting them onto paper.
What is your favorite book of all time?
My favorite book of all time is White Fang.
When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
When I’m not writing or working, I enjoy spending my time fishing, or just spending time out in nature, soaking up the sunshine.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The impact that White Fang had on me was extraordinary, and gave me a profound love for reading and writing that has lasted to this day.
What has inspired you and your writing style?
Edgar Allen Poe has inspired my writing style more than any other book or author.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on “Shambles.” It’s part one of my autobiography, of which will be written in a series of memoirs that, when read in chronological order, will constitute an autobiography.
What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
My favorite method for promoting my work is BookBub. They’ve helped increase my sales exponentially.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My next venture is writing an autobiographical series of memoirs based on my life’s story, and is by far the most challenging project I’ve ever undertaken as an author.
How well do you work under pressure?
I work quite well under pressure, as it was practically a job requirement for the US Army.
How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
I typically “go with the flow” as they say when determining the mood of my writing. Many different aspects of the piece will factor in as well. Is it a horror piece? Is it non-fiction?
If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
My life. I’d love to let my readers in on my life, and share my experiences and failures in hopes of helping them learn from my mistakes, and to let them know that they’re not alone in their struggles.
