Tell us about yourself.:
Hey there, I'm Amy! A Brazilian born and Irish-based author of feminist Romance! I love all romance tropes of subgenres, but new adult enemies to lovers are definitely my jam!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?:
I grew up in a small town in Brazil before moving to Ireland.
Having a diverse background drives me to write about diverse characters. People who are in my life, who I would see every day.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not sure if unusual, but I always buy a different notebook when I start plotting. And my small-town series is named after a bus stop close to my husband's childhood home, so every book was dedicated to him.
What authors have influenced you?
I grew up in a small town in Brazil before moving to Ireland.
Having a diverse background drives me to write about diverse characters. People who are in my life, who I would see every day.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write every day day and keep focus.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
"You're not everyone's cup of tea. "
It's true. Still ,when I get a bad review I get upset and go over my favourite author to read her bad reviews! And of course, it doesn't matter because her work is great. Why should it matter to me?
What are you reading now?
Rocket Science by Emily Mayer.
What’s your biggest weakness?
Prepositions!
And of course, the fear of failure. But mostly prepositions.
What is your favorite book of all time?
I'm all about my comfort books, the ones I read repeatedly. For the last year it was Wait for It by Mariana Zapata.
When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
I listen to audiobooks? And listen to podcasts about books? And watch movies to check if they were a book first?
No, no, I do normal things like hiking.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first book I book I read that wasn't illustrated was The Petite Prince, followed quickly by Tistou, The Boy of Green Thumbs.
I knew I would never go play outside ever again. Too many books to read.
What has inspired you and your writing style?
When I read Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries, it opened my mind. I wanted to be best friends with Mia. To me a good heroine is someone you wish was real.
What are you working on now?
Finishing touches of a Summer Novella, getting ready for the release of my next novel.
I'm also working on being old. I'm turning thirty-one in four days.
What is your favorite method for promoting your work?
Build relationships with your readers, network with authors. Making people take a chance on you.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully keep going working hard. I have more two projects for this year and a couple of seasonal novellas.
How well do you work under pressure?
I'd like to say I thrive. But I actually turn into a ball and cry, and then I get it all done on time.
How do you decide what tone to use with a particular piece of writing?
Stanislavski.
Once you know your character, you know how to decide for them regardless of what is on paper.
I know my characters favourite food, favourite book even when I don't write about it.
If you could share one thing with your fans, what would that be?
I'm terrified every time I click publish. I mortified every time I post a picture.
I keep going because I know that's what I was supposed to be doing, and I hope you know every review, every comment makes my day.
