Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an inspirational christian novelist. I write stories based on real life issues and give the reader a hope and a positive perspective. To date, I have written six novels and two children's books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest novel is about bipolar disorder and the destructive influence it holds over the family unit, particularly, the children who grow up in the home where a parent suffers from the disorder.
What inspired me to write this book was my own experience growing up in such a home.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually write while the television is on and while eating a snack.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The authors who have influenced me are the Christian writers such as Angela Hunt, Francine Rivers and my mentor, Anne Tatlock, who was my mentor and encouraged me by saying that I had a ministry to wounded women when I studied with the Jerry Jenkins Christian Writers Guild.
What are you working on now?
a novel about a sheltered young woman who attends college and is the unfortunate victim of campus rape and how it colored her young life.
But eventually finds her way back home to her roots.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have found that Goodreads is a wonderful promoting tool. Using the various community groups has been a good experience.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do not let what others think of your work influence your writing. Bad reviews and criticism that is harsh is only someone's opinion, not fact. See it for what it is and keep on writing, perfecting your craft.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write about what you know. I heard this at a conference and it has shaped my writing choices.
What are you reading now?
I am not presently reading anything.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I do not know. I leave that to God and where he leads me. At present I am giving testimony and talks regarding my novel on bipolar disorder, titled Sacred Secrets of the Cedar Chest
What is your favorite book of all time?
A Voice in the Wind, by Francine Rivers
