Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm an indie author with a series duet that released in 2017. I've also written a novella for an anthology that was released in February. I write all types of romance. My first series is NA. I love to write, read and interact with my group members. When I'm not doing that, my husband and three kids have my full attention.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is A Love Fulfilled. It's the second book in the series duet. The first book was supposed to be a stand alone novel without a continuance; but after it's release, my readers hinted at wanting to know more about the secondary characters. So, I guess you could say that it was mostly inspired by my readers.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't know if it's unusual; but I have to have a little bit of background noise when I write. It can be very low music or the whisper of the television; but I have to have it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many. Toni Morrison is one author that I grew up reading. I love everything by Nicholas Sparks, Elise S Amore, Mary TIng, Corinne Michaels, Erica Stevens, Brittainy C Cherry, JL Weil, M. Leighton.
What are you working on now?
I'm currently working on my second series. This one will be three parts and a little unconventional. I don't want to give too many details yet, because in writer's land things can change pretty quickly. I do plan to have them released within two months of each other, so there's not a very long wait in between.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do a lot of promotion on Facebook and Amazon. I don't really have a set method. I try different things and cross my fingers that someone picks up what I'm putting out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The main thing that I've learned since I became an author is patience.
It takes time to get to where you want to be. It won't happen overnight; but you must never give up. Familiarize yourself with those in your Genre(s). Participate in at least one writer's group for support.
Write what you love and your readers will love it; because it will shine through in your words. Know that everyone is not going to love what you do; but there are many that will. Write from your heart; for you and for the many that will.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I wasn't told this directly; but this is what I took from what was said:
Keep writing and do lots of research.
What are you reading now?
I'm just finishing up "Lovelock Ones" by Tricia Copeland. It's a post-apocalyptic/dystopian science-fiction novel and a really good read.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As I said before, I'm working on my second series and I have five more projects in the works over the next two years. I've been invited to speak at a private book club in June. I would like to attend a book signing within the next year. I just want to keep writing, travel and meet lots of new people.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Beloved by Toni Morrison. I've had many books come and go; but that one has never left my book shelf.
