Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Born in London (South East) many moons ago (1954) & now living in the land of the concrete cows & roundabouts (we're famous for both) in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK.
I started writing poetry & children's books so long ago but did nothing with them.
The children's books need illustrations & that is far beyond my capabilities.
The poetry sat in folders, unattended & forgotten for the most part until I recently came across some publishing info online.
I decided to dig out my old writings & sent off a manuscript to a publisher, they liked my manuscript & offered me a contract but wanted to share (refundable) costs, which was too much for my poor finances to cope with and I had no interest in vanity publishing anyway.
I was then told about self publishing with Amazon & checked it out, so here I am.
My 1st two ebooks 'Glimmer of hope' and 'Life and more' are random collections of 50 poems in each book,
I do understand that there isn't a huge market for poetry but maybe some people will enjoy my efforts.
I think my favourite poem so far that I've written is 'I want to be a tree' (After I die). 🙂
My Daughter & Granddaughter have given me lots of encouragement to get published over the years & it now felt like the right time to try.
I have now written several more short stories, a book of 20 murder short stories (Murder Melange) 2 Tarot books and my new witchy novella, Witch Spelling is now live. I've written 10 books so far, 4 of those are also in paperback.
Just started on a new Ghosty book a few days ago.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest complete work is Witch Spelling.
I've always been a fan of Witchy films, books etc, so it made sense to write one.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not sure if it's unusual but I'll have several bits of the story scattered throughout the Word document, then I'll tie each piece in as I get to a place that it will fit into.
If I find a good word that I'll want to use later, I place that near the bottom of the document until I can use it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I've enjoyed far too many but I've no idea if any have actually influenced my style of writing as such.
I think I may be still developing a style as my books can differ quite a bit.
What are you working on now?
A new ghost book which would be nice if it makes it to full novel length but I'll be happy enough if it only reaches novella length.
I've only written one novella so far (Witch Spelling) which is my longest fiction work so far.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I'm just finding my feet with promoting and with just being a poor person, I have to find free promo sites, so I'm very happy to have found this one.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you've written it and it's been edited & proofed to a decent standard, don't let a lack of confidence put you off from publishing it, it may or may not sell but if you don't put it 'out there', then it definitely won't sell.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Probably to use the narrator voice in Word if self editing.
What are you reading now?
I've got a few books set ready to read but have put them aside for now to try to promote my own & write my Ghost book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Sometimes I get an idea as I'm finishing up the current one, so I've no idea yet what will come after the ghost one that I'm currently working on.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Not just one book but they all fit together.
The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings.
