Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm just a girl with very little time.
I have a fairly demanding job which causes me to travel fairly frequently. And I'm currently working on my Master's degree.
I've written one book with my long time good friend, Dymphna Dreamer, and we're working on more. I also have a personal collection of terrible poetry that I've written which may never actually see the light of day.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Lux Mori. It's a sci-fi fantasy dystopian book, the first in a series. I can't be entirely sure what inspired it, but I felt that it was a story that wanted to be told.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I prefer silence when I write. And sometimes I find myself closing my eyes as I type.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I've always admired JK Rowling. She seems quite fierce and I appreciate that in a person. As far as books that have influenced me, the first book series I ever recall reading all the way through was The Little House on the Prairie series. As a child, it solidified my love of reading. I'm also a huge fan of Poe and oddly, when I'm feeling a bit down, I immerse myself in his works.
What are you working on now?
Book two of the Novae Terrae Series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I'm honestly still new at this and figuring it out as I go along. I wish I could give a solid answer, but I haven't ventured far outside of Facebook for the moment.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you feel and write something you'd want to read. When it isn't forced, it translates to a better experience for the reader.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be more visible.
In my professional life outside of writing, a mentor gave me this advice. You can have all the talent in the world, but it will only get you so far unless other people see you as well.
What are you reading now?
The Drowned Girls by Loreth Anne White
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a second series in mind already.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Oh, gosh…that's a difficult one.
I think I'm going to have to go with The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe….that's not cheating, I promise.
