Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Well, I am a best-selling author, having written thirteen books and counting. My books range from Christian Discipleship to Motivational Principles, all of which are geared to helping people find purpose and fulfillment in life. I am a pastor, Bible Teacher and Inspirational speaker and I have been sharing Biblical Principles of true success and victory for over thirty years, travelling both locally and abroad. I believe that every person born into this world has worth and value and my mission is to share with others keys which will enable them to discover their true purpose, overcome life’s challenges and live victoriously. I am an Ezine Articles Expert Writer, and have written over two hundred articles on various issues of life. I am the senior pastor of Jesus Christ Centered Ministries International, located in Nassau, Bahamas. Some of my books include: Hearing the Voice of God; My Name is Jealous; Humility & the Honor of God; The Positive Power of Biblical Affirmations, Diligence, the Master Key To Achieving Your Dreams and Practical Tips For Successful Living. I live in Nassau, with my wife and two children.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My two latest books are, 1. “LESSONS I LEARNED AS AN AUTHOR.” I wrote it because of the demand on me by aspiring authors who were constantly asking me to help them get their book written and published. After writing a few articles on Book writing, publishing and marketing your book, my Book Coach suggested that I write a book on it. So this inspired me to do so. 2. “DILIGENCE, THE MASTER KEY TO ACHIEVING YOUR DREAMS.” I wrote this particular book to help people advance in life and realize their goals and dreams. Many people desire to know how to fulfill their God-given purpose in life. This book will help them discover keys to reaching where they want to go.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I honestly just like writing. I have been writing for a long time. I would write during the day, and sometimes late in the wee hours of the night (early morning), up to three in the morning.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are several authors whom I have been influenced by and still hold as an example. Here are a few:
Dr. Myles Munroe (Deceased). His books on Leadership, Purpose and the Kingdom of God are awesome and continue to influence millions throughout the world, even though he is from a little place like the Bahamas. This really inspires me.
Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen: Their various books on success have really been a blessing and encouragement to me. And their focus and determination to make it as successful authors serve as a continual inspiration to me to this day.
Kenneth & Gloria Copeland: Their books on effective and victorious Christian Living really help and encourage me in my walk with God.
Kenneth E. Hagin (Deceased): His books have really blessed and encouraged me as a believer and still continues to do so.
Bishop T. D. Jakes: What can I say of Bishop Jakes. He is a blessing and inspiration.
Shelley Hitz: I have just read a book by Shelly and I am reading another one now. She is quickly becoming one of my favorites authors.
What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on a new book, “Change Your Mind & Change Your Life”. It is based on the process of the renewing of minds to God’s Will and His Ways so that we can experience His best in our lives. I am planning to release it next year, 2015.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon is my best method for promoting my books. I am also constantly learning to use various methods on the internet to assist in this endeavor. I also use Facebook and Twitter to connect with potential readers. And word of mouth is priceless.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, I do. As an author of over ten books, with several best-sellers, I am constantly asked by others to help them write and publish their books. I am able to write a book within a week now. I have done so. It was not always this way however. My first book took a long time to complete. So I know that at times you may run into what some have termed “writers block.” My encouragement to you is to just keep at it. When I experienced writers block, I would go and watch a movie, preferably a comedy that would make me laugh. Once my mind loosens up, I would sense inspiration coming up within me as to how I can go forward with my writing. This works for me. You will have to find what works for you. I also know the frustration of having to write a book and then receive a rejection letter by a publisher. I have self-published and been published by a Traditional publisher. I want to help people realize that either way they can experience success as an author if they are willing to persevere and master procrastination. I have experience success as an author because I decided not to quit. I just kept at it. And if you are determined to be a good author and one who impacts people’s lives for the better, anything is possible. So my advice is, “KEEP AT IT.” Write, publish and learn as much as you can about how to market and share with the world what you have written. YOU CAN DO THIS.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
At one point in my writing career I was really discouraged because I was not having much success in selling my books. I wrote an email to a mega-bestselling author who has literally sold over three hundred million books, asking for his advice and was surprised and greatly encouraged when he personally sent me a letter in the mail giving me some helpful tips to increase sales and productivity. The best part of that advice was these words: “NEVER STOP MARKETING.” This advice to me was and still is priceless.
What are you reading now?
Presently I am reading a book on book marketing by Mrs. Shelley Hitz called, “AUTHOR PUBLICITY PACK.” I just finished reading her book called, “MARKETING YOUR BOOK ON AMAZON” It’s good.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have so many books rolling around in me that I want to write and positively affect people’s lives for the better. So I will continue writing and sharing with others what I learn. It is in my heart to write a few novels as well. I have not written a novel yet, so this will be an adventure.
What is your favorite book of all time?
My favorite book of all time is THE BIBLE. NO OTHER BOOK COMPARES TO IT.
