Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a novelist, publicist, and journalist who enjoys travel, dancing on speakers, and letting my pets run my life. I write romantic comedy and erotic romance. My Between Boyfriends trilogy is published through Booktrope. It follows the story of Jan Weston, a 20-something college student with an addiction to men, Starbucks, and disasters. I’ve also published two spinoff novels, Aching for You and Falling for You. These erotic romances feature Jan and three of her friends post-college, living in Los Angeles, and still making mistakes.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Falling for You is sexy, funny erotic romance featuring male/female and female/female relationships.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not unless you count moving my cat off my keyboard, then off my lap, and then off my arm before repeating the cycle.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Sophie Kinsella, Risa Green, Lani Diane Rich, and Lauren Weisberger are some of my favorite authors.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on the third book in my All for You series. It will be the last book in the spinoff series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Twitter has been the most useful tool for me to promote books and connect with readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t be afraid to write badly. Too many new authors freeze up or wallow in self-doubt because they expect their writing to be perfect. It won’t be, especially not in the beginning. Writing bad prose is the first step to brilliance.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Focus on connecting with readers instead of trying to make people buy your books.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading some great upcoming novels, Designing Samantha’s Love by PJ Fiala and Arielle Immortal Resolve by Lilian Roberts.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m focusing on author events. I’ve got a book signing coming up on June 7 at Warwick’s bookstore in La Jolla with Juliette Sobanet.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks.
