Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
"Bright and happy," "light and whimsical" have been the catch phrases attached to my writing and art for over 30 years. Sweet images dance across all of these creations, whether in the form of children's books, paintings, wallpaper, ceramics, baby bibs, purses, clothing, or her King Features Syndicated newspaper panel "Happy Musings."
I graduated from USC with a degree in Fine Art and through the years, have had 26 signature art galleries throughout the world.
Presently I am totally focused on creating children's books that not only entertain, but help children develop positive social and emotional skills.
There are over 80 books in the Sally Huss Collection at this time.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is WHO NEEDS A HUG? (Warm-Hearted Bedtime Story/Picture Book About Loving Oneself and Others, Includes Jungle Animals, for Beginner Readers, Ages 2-8)
I'm not sure what inspired this book, but then again, everyone needs a hug. I thought it would be cute to show various animals receiving a hug from a cuddly koala.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write often and work continuously on illustrating a stack of books that are already written.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I suppose Seuss would be my greatest influence. He is certainly the master of children's literature.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a book called YOU CAN'T TEACH A DUCK. It illustrates all the many things you cannot teach a duck and the one thing you can. It is about using common sense.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
We tweet a lot and have a website that continually needs updating.
