Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in the beautiful Surroundings of Killaloe, Co Clare, Ireland. Killaloe nestles on the banks of the majestic river Shannon a mile downstream from the mighty lough Derg largest of the three lakes on the river. Killaloe is surrounded by gently rolling green hills and is a place of myths and legends. I lived an idyllic childhood swimming and fishing in the river and lake. This instilled a life long love of rivers and fresh water lakes in me. I could not imagine living anywhere that did not have a river running through it. I am married to Liz and we have two sons Edward and Craig and a very old mystical cat called Babe who is convinced she owns the house. Although I have always dabbled with writing I did not publish my first book until last year titled ” Dark Web” I just published my second book last month called ” A Loss of Youth”. I write in the horror/supernatural genre and I have two projects on the go at the moment one a short story I have just submitted and my third novel. When I am not writing I like to relax by reading, fishing, catching up on my favorite TV shows. I also like drinking beer and putting the world to rights with my friends.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called A Loss of Youth it is what I suppose you could call a supernatural detective story. I have always had an interest in a world I believe exists beyond the shadows. The daily exposure we endure to the evil and violence that takes place on our city streets.Prompted me to explore the darkness that dwells in most of us at a base level. The book A Loss of Youth is the result of this attempt to understand what drives people to commit evil and how they reach this dark place.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write in short sharp bursts interrupted by frequent distractions.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The brothers Grimm had a life long influence on me to search for and create worlds and dimensions beyond our own.
What are you working on now?
I have just submitted a short story. a little less than twelve thousand words in the Horror/Si Fi genre. I am also working on my third novel again in the horror/supernatural genre.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Sites such as Awesomegang.com, Book reader magazine, book goodies .com, Wantan reads,Pretty-Hot.com and Author marketing club among others are invaluable for authors such as me. I am just learning how difficult it really is to gain a platform for your work. Sites such as those I have listed and their associate sites are a god send to indie authors like myself.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Always better to write than not. Write often and keep doing so it is like everything in life it is a learning curve.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It is nice to be nice. Always treat people the same way you would like them to treat you.
What are you reading now?
I have just finished “Depraved” by Bryan Smith and a great read I must say.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am hoping to continue writing novels until I can sit back and say now there is a great book.
What is your favorite book of all time?
I love each book that holds my attention to the end. Then again if someone held a gun to my head. I would have to narrow it down to two ” Every dead thing” by John Connolly and ” Needful things” by Stephen King.
