Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Im a Canadian author and screenwriter and I lives in British Columbia, Canada.
My scripts have been made into movies (BlindEYE and Truth and Wine) and online podcasts (Candid Shots of the VPD). I have written several dozen well-researched blog articles about cutting edge research on amino acids and new technology. I also write science fiction blogs and a memoir as well as a range of speculative fiction books. I’ve had several poems published both on-line and in print and have been nominated for an aurora award.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book was called, ‘Dalton’s Daughter’. It was inspired in part by the shared science fiction universe I write in and in part by my own life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmmm, nothing too unusual. I write best in my pyjamas and I crave sugar like crazy. I think those are pretty common traits in a writer. I like to write best late at night, but again, not very unusual.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many authors and books have influenced me! I’ve always been a voracious reader. Reading books and stories by my friends has been extremely inspirational to me. In particular, G. W. Renshaw, Randy McCharles, Liane Carter, Matthew Graybosch, John J. Higgins and so many others that I’m sorry to have started to name them as I know I’ve left out too many!
What are you working on now?
I’m working in the sequel to Dalton’s Daughter, it’s called ‘Detached Daughter’ and will be available for late autumn.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Twitter has been awesome to me, you can find me @teeetsbyvc. Facebook is amazing as well but best of all have been our blog sites.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Kill your inner critic! Don’t listen to him, don’t feed him your insecurity! Write what you want to write And worry about editing after your story is told.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard is that it isn’t about grammar, it’s about the story. That was Stephen King.
What are you reading now?
Right now I’m reading ‘In The Beginning’ by a talented friend of mine, John J. Higgens. It’s the best take I’ve ever read of the story of Lilith and love between angels and humans. I thoroughly recommend it!
What’s next for you as a writer?
The next thing for me as a writer is to keep writing! I love new challenges and working with other writers. I’m in love with all my readers and they inspire me to keep going every day!
What is your favorite book of all time?
My favourite book of all time is Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’. Even though it’s very long I can read it again and again.
