Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I've written and published about ten books, but I have several more books on the way. I am a full-time software developer and write java applications, so writing is done in my spare time.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Raven's Fall and it is the sequel to Raven's Peak. There is a scene toward the end of the novel I really wanted to write, and it formed the basis for basically everything that came before it. No spoilers, though!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I dunno about unusual because I don't know what usual would be. I generally write each book different, and sometimes I just try to rush through to an ending so that I can go back and rewrite to fix stuff.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King, Isaac Asimov, George R.R. Martin are all my biggest influencers because of how brilliantly they create their worlds and characters.
What are you working on now?
Right now I'm working on two more books in my Graveyard of Empires series and then I'll be finishing up the newest book in the World on Fire Series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I've had good luck in promoting my books through social media and reaching out to readers directly, but I'm trying really hard to build up my email newsletter list and generate back links and SEO for my author website. I'm hoping it helps me sell books soon.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Taking off as a writer is like being struck by lightning, and no matter how hard you try you can't force it to happen. You can, however, increase your odds: marketing, outreach, and writing more books is like building your lightning rod.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Everyone does, and sometimes you just have to accept it and move on. Learn from everything you do.
What are you reading now?
A book about developing android applications. Inspiring stuff, I know.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I'm working on writing some how-to books to help teach people things I've learned and will publish those under another pen name. I'm also working on expanding and enhancing some of my ongoing series books.
What is your favorite book of all time?
This is rough for me. I love the Foundation series, but I also love Game of Thrones. I think my favorite, though, and because the new movie comes out next year I'll say the Dark Tower.
