Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Christian indie author, mother of three, who is married to her best friend! I have published one book, have the sequel in the making (aiming for publishing March 2016) and a few others in the works. 😉
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Price of Remission
This book was inspired by the age-old questions, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” and, “How can I forgive them for ____?”
As a Christian, I have learned that forgiveness is pricey. It cost Jesus more than anyone. Should we deny others this same forgiveness, no matter how painful the process?
The ripple effect of others’ sins can impact our lives daily. I aimed to capture both the pain and freedom of forgiveness.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual writing habits? Unless you consider writing at three in the morning after drinking an embarrassing amount of coffee and listening to music from the era I’m writing in…then no.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Francine Rivers’ “Mark of the Lion Trilogy” and “Redeeming Love” have to be my favorites, aside from the Bible.
What are you working on now?
The sequel to The Price of Remission. It should be published March 2016.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I prefer personally reaching out via social media. Facebook, in particular.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Even if you think you’re going to lose your mind, keep writing. Even if you hit a brick wall, keep writing. Change your scenery, grab some coffee, and turn off your phone. Just. Keep. Writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Best advice I’ve ever heard? Matthew 6 says it best.
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
What are you reading now?
Between my personal Bible studies, working on finishing my second book and reading the Elsie Dinsmore series with my daughters and Jack Staples series with my son, I have not had time to pick up anything else in two weeks. However, I never go long without getting lost in a good book. I’m sure within a week or so I’ll have another added to my list.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish the sequel to The Price of Remission. Then, work on the others I have started!
What is your favorite book of all time?
This is so very hard to answer. My favorite book of all time? I guess that depends on the category. Non-fiction? The Bible, hands down. Fiction? I’d have to say Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, or the first in her Mark of the Lion Trilogy. Both were life changing for me.
