Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in 1974 in Bristol in the United Kingdom, where I still live with my wife of twenty years, Sara.
Sadly, my father, Michael passed away when I was only two years old, and I was brought up by my mother, Jean and stepfather, Jim. I had a happy childhood of stories and adventure, where my imagination was encouraged and thrived. I have always enjoyed writing short stories throughout my life, and enjoy writing science fiction, fantasy and horror stories, as well as some poetry. I hope that my readers are able to feel the emotion that I try to invoke in my books.
I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy, and love getting up early and having a quiet morning to write, with a mug of Earl Grey tea beside me. I enjoy gardening, hiking and movies. I also enjoy travel, and finding new places to get lost. My favourite destination is Italy.
I have one book available on Amazon – Titan Fleet: The Invictus. I am currently working on Book II of the Titan Fleet series, entitled Titan Fleet: The Robur.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called Titan Fleet: The Invictus. I began writing this book after the sad passing of my mother, Jean Black in 2013, which drove me to achieve my dream of having a published novel. My mother always encouraged me to do the best I could, and I promised her that one day I would finish something.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual, but I see my book as a film in my head and write it as I watch the action. I have to have a cup of Earl Grey tea beside me, to help me to write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Huckleberry Finn, both by Mark Twain, James Herbert, Jules Verne, Terry Pratchett.
What are you working on now?
I am working on the second book in the Titan Fleet series – Titan Fleet: The Invictus. I also have several other projects in the planning stage, a horror story, and fantasy and a joint venture with my wife.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like to use twitter, because not only do I get to connect with readers, but also other authors.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t make excuses, just write it and believe in yourself, and sure enough you will achieve your goal.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t worry about your word count, just write it until the story is finished, you will know when that is.

What’s next for you as a writer?
