Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have recently published book #7 with CreateSpace. Prior to this year, I have been writing screenplays the last twenty years. I currently have more than fifty screenplays.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Town Darling” was just published a week ago. I got the idea while listening to the song “Land of 1000 Dancers”, which prompted the talent show dance sequence. The rest of the story was written around this one scene.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Most of my stories are handwritten. I do 99% of my writing while sitting in bed. I only write with a Dr. Grip pen, medium point, blue ink. The paper has to be Staples college ruled. My handwriting looks like chicken scratch.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Agatha Christie all the way! I try to avoid writing straight up mysteries, because I know I’ll never be in her league.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently converting another screenplay “Dead Village” into a book. I’m nearly finished converting it. Next I’ll edit, edit, and edit some more. When I think it’s good enough, I’ll edit it again.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve been using Amazon’s ad campaign, and I recently took an ad out on Twitter.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never stop writing. Even if no one ever reads it, write it anyway. I think for most serious writers, writing is an addiction.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Smile; people will wonder what you’re up to.
What are you reading now?
I actually just finished a book by another indie author called “Halfway to the Truth”.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Projects include two zombie horrors, a romantic thriller, and a witch/supernatural.
What is your favorite book of all time?
“Death on the Nile” by Agatha Christie.
