Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written over 40 books for children, including my successful Pony-Mad Princess series. I love making people laugh so many of my books are funny.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest books is “Alien Sheep” and it grew out of a desire to write a book involving numbers. But once I’d created the sheep, the story took on a life of their own. My personal favourite is 8 – he was so much fun to create.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to plan in detail before I start writing, but I often change the plan as a go along because I get better ideas.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. I also grew up reading every pony book I could find.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a book for writers about how to plot a novel.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That depends on the book. It’s important to match the marketing method to the right target audience.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You won’t get your story right first time. Be prepared to work hard on plotting and rewriting.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t get it right, get it written.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve also ideas for an exciting series about dragons and a fantasy young adult novel with at least one flying horse. I’d also like to do more play writing.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett.
