Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I currently reside with my fiance’ in Southern California. I have been writing since I was in junior high. I have been professionally writing since 2008. I am the mother of three beautiful young adults. I have written three books, but only one has been published so far. I also write poetry and blog. I’m an avid reader and I love hanging out in bookstores.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Midnight Comes With the Dawn ~ The Vampyir Plague. The original concept was about a strained relationship between a father and his daughter. Then, in 2007 I came out as a lesbian and reconstructed the story on the advice of a friend.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to write as often as I can. I use visual aid when I write and I usually write more in the evening.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King is the author that not only influences me but was one of the first authors I read when I was younger. Pet Sematary was the first novel of his that read.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the second installment in the series. The series will be five novels.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best method I have found so far has been a combination. Between twitter, Instagram, Facebook, my website, and different platforms provided to authors to showcase their work has been very effective. I also try to branch out and do other interests outside of my writing. Book festivals and free days on Amazon are a great way to get the word out as well.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do your research about your genre and your competition. The market is saturated with an enormous array of talent. You must be different and unique. You must also engage with you fan base. Answer tweets and Facebook questions or set up a link to your website with a set of already prepared Q&A and have a section where fans can leave comments.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Believe in yourself. Work hard and read a lot.
