What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest title is called Sixth Prime. It was inspired my love of psychology (for which I attended graduate school), mathematics, and science fiction.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to maintain a NaNoWriMo pace throughout the year. No matter what, I am sure to put in 2000 words minimum. Sometimes that writing makes the cut; more often than not, it ends up on the editing floor.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Hemmingway. Steinbeck. Hugo. King. McCarthy. Really everything I have ever read, and that would be a considerable number of books in nearly 40 years, has influenced my love of writing.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I am working on Fifth Prime, the sequel to Sixth Prime and some short fiction.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like to use a mix of keywords, CPC advertising, and blog outreach.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Not just when it is comfortable, but in every available moment you can find. Have people read it. Learn to take and understad critcism.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Words don’t bleed. Cut them.” Great advice about the draft process.
What are you reading now?
Currently, I am re-reading Les Miserables; it’s a yearly ritual.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to transition into screenwriting for the small screen.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
