Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written a number of non-fiction books (under another name), but have only recently taken up writing fiction. Have just published “Karma Dead Ahead.” It’s the first book in the Private PSI Detective Mystery Series.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Karma Dead Ahead.” What inspired it was the entire plot of the book popped into my mind one day in June 2014. Prior to that, I had never written any fiction, not even a short story, nor had I intended to do so. Since I had though up an entire novel, I typed it out as quickly as I could. It took five weeks to produce 250 pages. Real-life paranormal events were taking place in my home during this time.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always have a period when writing a book of working every spare moment on it for days at a time.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle
What are you working on now?
In addition to two non-fiction books, I am two-thirds of the way through the second novel in the Private PSI Detective Mystery Series. In the first novel, the two detectives, Sagacity Jeunesse and Chance Mankowski went to a Caribbean Island to track down a missing woman and a maniacal killer. In the second one, they go to Paris and have a completely different set of adventures. There is even a touch of spy thriller in the new book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Other than My Book Place? Facebook is key for authors. A huge percentage of the public is on it and it probably has over 100 book groups. You can meet everyone there.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t let anyone keep you from publishing your book. With the Internet, eBook readers and Amazon, anyone can publish a book today. So just do it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You don’t get anywhere without working with others. Many authors don’t follow this advice, thinking success is somehow just going to happen to them. Lots of luck with that approach.
What are you reading now?
One of the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am hoping to have the Private PSI Detective Mysteries turned into movies or a TV series.
What is your favorite book of all time?
“On the Road” by Jack Kerouac.
