Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an indie author. Currently I have four short stories published. I am currently working on a mystery series and a collection of fantasy novellas.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Missing Children is my newest release. I centers around a group of women who meet weekly to quilt. They have to deal with a former member being placed in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s. My inspiration was my grandmother. She taught me to quilt and later died with Alzheimer’s. Missing Children is a work of fiction, but holds many truths.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I get most of my inspiration from church sermons. Even id the story I write has nothing to do with religion, it’s origins may be from church.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I write fiction in different genres, but they all have a strong southern voice. I love the South and it’s long history of the unusual. I don’t know that I write like anyone else, but I love many writers: J.R.R Tolkien, Harper Lee, Alice Walker, Mary Kay Andrews, and Mary Higgins Clark.
What are you working on now?
I am in the final edits of the first in a cozy mystery series. I hope to send it to the editor early 2017.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still very new at this. I usually go to Clean Indie Reads facebook group.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Plan ahead. Keep a calendar of places you contact and when. That will help in tracking sales and which sites give the best results. Keep writing, always keep writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Not everyone will like your book. That’s okay.
What are you reading now?
The Cat Sitter’s Pajamas: A Dixie Hemingway Mystery
It’s great fun. Perfect for summer.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I just finished Camp NaNoWriMo. So now I have to edit.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Do I have to pick just one? That’s like asking who’s my favorite child.
