What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is entitled A Godless Love. The inspiration for this book stems from my background growing up in a religious cult that has a very strong hold over its member’s lives. There are several nonfiction books about this religious group but not many fiction.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I’m in the middle of writing I sometimes take a break and do a 3 or 4 mile walk while listening to RuPaul’s music. I find a lot of his songs inspiring.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
A few of my favorites are The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb; The Brooklyn Follies by Paul Auster and The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule.
What are you working on now?
The second installment to My Life as I Knew It, which is the first book in a time travel series. The second book is entitled, Life, As Is.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Instagram and mass emails.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’ve loved writing all throughout my life but never shared any of my work until a couple of years ago because I was so self conscious. However, sharing my work with others was such a freeing experience so my advice to anyone who wants to write is just do it and don’t worry about what other people think. There will always be people who like your work and people who don’t; ignore the ones who don’t. Write to make you happy.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you want to write then just write.
What are you reading now?
It by Stephen King.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I will be interviewed and featured on The Author’s Show next month. Recording is next week. I will keep everyone posted as to when it airs.
What is your favorite book of all time?
There are way to many to list.
