Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m either an architect who dabbles in writing, or a writer who dabbles in Architecture. Born and raised in Zambia, I grew up watching way too much tv and reading way too many books. I was already trying to write by age 7… it didn’t go well. The streets of Nottingham is my first published book, I have a few others doing time in various rubbish bins across the nation.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The streets of Nottingham. I took a shortcut through a construction site on my way home from school …That’s what inspired the broken world setting. It was a pretty rubbish day… that’s what inspired the poem in the prologue. It wasn’t meant to be a book when I wrote it, I was just jotting down a feeling.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual? I don’t know. For Nottingham I’d open Microsoft word document and movie player on my laptop. Then I’d spend the entire weekend in a writing/series binge loop. 30minutes here, 30minutes there. Repeat over a couple of years and viola… book on shelf
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Authors and books not really. It is encouraging every time I hear George R.R Martin will once again not be delivering winds of winter this year. My real influences are Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino. And by extension all their movies.
What are you working on now?
Something called “Serial.” It’s a Crime thriller. I realize writing in the same genre as my first book would be good for me, but I can’t help myself.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Still figuring that one one. Quite the pickle. But goodreads works well I think.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If u want to be a writer then write. Just start. Today.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you want to be a writer then write.
What are you reading now?
Stories of your life and others by ted chiang
What’s next for you as a writer?
Trying to get “serial” out by years end. But I’ll admit I write slow, and haphazardly. So it may not necessarily be next. Nottingham wasn’t supposed to be first either
What is your favorite book of all time?
The rainmaker by John Grisham.
